If it doesn't work to your satisfaction then remove it and buy Malwarebytes. I would just stick with the provided McAfee because it is free.

Personal machines are not Univeristy owned, and there is nothing in our agreement with McAfee that Enterprise versions of their software can't be installed on users home machines that they use to remote into campus to work. We have tested McAfee 8.8 on every OS between Window's XP and Server 2008 and it works great.ĭon't expect a glowing response from someone from Malwarebytes. McAfee 8.8 has a better malware/spyware engine than Malwarebytes and is the better choice between the two as it provides virus protection and spyware protection and is very easy on system resources.

There is a problem between the two programs and you will have to decide whether you want McAfee or full Malwarebytes, NOT BOTH. If you can't cut the cord with Malwarebytes then just get the free version as that does work with McAfee without disabling it.

The full version of Malwarebytes disables McAfee. I was just curious if there were any settings that I missed that would allow me add exclusions in MalwareBytes like I can in McAfee to allow both programs to co-exist for the few users that this is affecting. I have no problem telling them that they can't use MalwareBytes and McAfee. When I remove MalwareBytes the problem goes away. Now that version 8.8 offers the spyware module at no additional cost, users that had bought full individual licences for MalwareBytes are showing this problem of VSE 8.8 being disabled when On Access Scanner engages. Some users paid out of pocket for full MalwareBytes protection in addition to the virus protect that McAfee provided. We are a corporate user of McAfee and until version 8.8, they did not offer spyware protection with the VirusScan module. Are there any settings in Malwarebytes that would be strong-arming McAfee VirusScan 8.8 into disabling services and features when the on-access scan is started? Our users would like to use both programs like they did with past version of McAfee.Īs a licensed reseller, affiliate, corporate, non-profit or government user or tech shop, your current inquiry is eligible for Malwarebytes When I uninstall Malwarebytes, VSE 8.8 scanning works fine and completes. I ran the command line scanner with the latest DAT file from McAfee and found no virus/spyware activity. VSE 8.7 works without a problem, but it also does not have the anti-spyware module that 8.8 integrated into this release. Access Protection, Buffer Overflow protection and On Access Scanner all disable and will not re-enable until user manually restarts McAfee services from services.msc. Then MCSHIELD service and framework service is disabled. After installation completes of VSE 8.8 the scanner is run on VSE 8.8 it runs for about 4 minutes (varies each time) then says scan cancels with 0 files scanned. It runs much quicker when the free version of Malwarebytes is installed or Malwarebytes is not installed at all. VSE 8.8 installs very slowly when Malwarebytes full version is installed.
